anyone who stays for this one deserves what they get. they're only expecting this to get stronger when it gets into the warm gulf waters, so it should be a cat 5 very soon

Dood, the country needs New Orleans.

You could say that same type crap about many places.

I'm hoping this one just takes new orleans completely off the map so people don't try to rebuild it again. I'm sorry to anyone that lives there, but what a fucking waste of money it was rebuilding that town that was a shithole BEFORE katrina hit.

You have to be an idiot to live in a place that is that far below sea level AND is surrounded by water. That's just a disaster waiting to happen.

agreed

My school closed on Friday but I had already left on Thursday afternoon when they announced classes were canceled for a week. They said at 4am contraflow goes into effect, and anyone off of their own property after 8am gets arrested. Most places are predicting that its going to go like 60-100 miles west of New Orleans and hit closer to Houma, but there will still be winds. If it does come close enough to New Orleans, its pretty much game over, most people just won't come back this time because the current levees are only prepared to handle a 30 year storm, not the 100 year storm which Gustav is supposed to be. It'll be a category 5 and supposed to be a 3/4 when it makes landfall. Its entertaining to watch, it determines how much time I get off school, but then again, most of my stuff is there and will get ruined/looted.
