anyone ever seen a battery modified like this?

Already did.. it reads 3volts between the new posts, 6-9 when using combinations of stock and modded posts, and low 10's when connecting the two stock posts. Hopefully its just drained, gonna stick it on a charger today and see what happens. Just wanna find out if Im suppose to do something with those added posts (like connect them) before hooking it to a charger.

Do the new posts affect output of the original posts? Or, if I just want the standard 12v output, can I just use the standard posts and ignore the new ones?

Well I called Kinetik and asked them, they verified this was part of aset they sell to competitors to link together via bussbar to acheive 16-17 volts. According to them, I just need to jumper the added terminals and it should operate normally.

Yup just series the two extra terminals together. That will give you one 12v battery.
