Anyone ever make a 05 XXX 10''

I am picking up a 05 12'' XXX with torn tinsels on Monday. I am going to try and just solder some speaker wire on the ripped tinsels just to get it up and running as a 12'' again.

Recone is in the future for sure and I was going to just throw a 15'' basket on it but then I got to thinking. Anyone ever make a XXX 10? I might be willing to do it but I kinda dont feel like spending the $100 on a recone and a 10 basket if it has proven not worthy in the past.

What you guys think? I might have to do it....... It would have to be one of the sexiest tens ever.......

speaker wire wont last a day used as tinsel. you can fix it without a recone you know...

Tinsel leads are not just wires used to run current from the input to the VC. There's especially made so that they won't melt or rip off during excursion, and as such, the are usually braided wire instead of just speaker wire. Regular wire, as said, would last for a fraction of the speaker's life.
