Ok i just got a 96 integra and it doesnt want to start after driving around or running for a bit. but if i leave it sit for a while itll start right up no problem. anyone know why this could be happening?
my accord would do that, i would hit the dash hard and it would start right up ghetto but it worked. it is caused by the fuel pump relay up inside the dash or it was im my case.

fuel pump is going bad. its telling you its going bad by acting up when hot. underneath your rear seat you'll find it. 135 dollar part. replace it before ur car just shuts off when ur goin 65 on a highway

does it try to start (like kick over and all) if you try it right after you shut it off?
yeh it cranks but wont fire up

how can i be sure its the fuel pump?

The fuel pump will not shut down when the car is "Hot" it is powered electrically and has no relation to how hot the engine is.

You can check by putting your ear near the gas tank and cycling the key forward. Listen for the whine of the pump. If you dont hear it, the fuel pump is not working. Hit the gas tank with a plastic mallet to see if it will intermittantly kick on.

What it might sound like is you need to take it to a mechanic. there are a million possibilities why it is doing this. It is also very hard to diagnose a problem like that over the internet.

yeh i do hear it ^ doesnt that mean its good? a buddy told me it could be a coolant temperature sensor?
a coolant temp sensor only affects the gauge inside of your car (what makes the gauge go from C to H). That also has no effect on your problem.

wrong...

it might actually be this sensor, we have a buick that runs great after you first start her, but if you shut her off and start her up again while shes hot, it runs like ****. I think the temp sensor is bad on it.

no. you can disconnect the sensor and the car will still start and work fine. The only thing that wont work is your temperature gauge inside of the car. All that sensor does is tell you how hot the engine is.
