anyone ever changed alternator in S-10/Sonoma?

I am buying a new alternator tomorrow and was looking at putting it in myself. it doesnt appear to be too hard with the serpentine belt/belt tensioner....any help is appreciated....

I dont know if you have the 4.3 but i have the 4.3 and the belt was a bit#$ to put back on but the rest was easy

i have the 4.3z did you use the belt tensioner when you took it off/on? or did you just pull the belt off without loosening the tensioner?

you have to pull the tension idler. it's extremely easy. there is a spot on the front to stick a ratchet on and turn it.

nah. it has a small square that a ratchet fits right into. the longer the ratchet the easier.

then you just pull the alternator out after undoing the bolts, wires etc. then put the new one on and tightn the tensioner back?

Yes.. The tensioner does not come off (well it does but no need to) Put a breaker bar on it and it moves a little so you can take off the belt..
