anyone else shave with a double-edged safety razor?

Nice set OP, but I can't justify all that money to shaving cream, oils and such when I only shave once.......maybe twice a week, but usually once.

I use the Gillette Fusion and I get a good 2 monnths out of each cartridge. So a set of 4 that cost maybe 14 bucks lasts me 8 months. So OMG, I spent 28 smacks on some cartridges for the year, lol!

I'm actually Italian / Jewish (Ancestry from modern day Germany, Poland, etc.), I'm 19 in a few weeks, and I have some chin hair, a mexi-stache, and some side burns... but that's about it. I should be a hairy mug, but I'm nearly hairless for being nearly 19.
And if I were you, I'd just let that shit grow out. It's not worth it.
gotta be te jewish side. give it a couple years...sheeit i was rockin a full beard in high school. and my locker partner was syrian, so every time someone would call in a bomb threat theyd immediately come right to our locker. kind of racist in hindsight...maybe i can sue

I'm in! Where did you pick up all this stuff? I'm tired of the ridiculous prices myself. I'm not sure if I'd go with all the accessories, because I like Edge shaving gel, but the razor peeked my interest.

I use a gillete mach 3 or a disposable, I also stopped using shaving cream cause its bad for your skin (makes it mushy and weak).

I burn through blades so I may pick up one like the OPs

With my face I have the shave up or it glides right over my beard (like i didn't shave at all) after my first use the blade is basically meh and after 4-5 uses its dull

I just paid 14 dollars for 100 blades fyi.

Spent 14 bucks on some soap....that'll last me a year...maybe break even there.

Spent 15 bucks on some pre-shave oil....not sure if I will again, going to try that out and see. Got a brush, too and thats about it. So at worst, with the extra (and possibly unnecessary) purchases I made, I break even after I run out of blades...maybe a bit less.

Sure...I *could* spend much more. There's some crazy mofo's out there that drop 500 smacks on a soap brush, although I think it goes without saying that something like that is retarded. At any rate, I won't be buying shaving items again for close on a year, maybe less if I have to get a refill on my soap. Which is 8 bucks btw, for however many months it lasts me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I shaved yesterday morning, only have a mild 5 o clock deal going on now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I have to shave 5-6 times per week depending upon my plans for the weekend. If I shave @ 6 am then I'm usually got a shadow by 2-3 pm... Electric razors are no good for me as I've got extremely sensitive skin. I even pat my face with warm water pre-shave, use good shaving gel, and a sharp blade but still get an irritated neck FTMFL

Might have to look into this

I have sensitive skin and always got razor burn on my neck with conventional razors like the mach 3. I have been using a double-edged razor since the beginning of this year and it gives me the smoothest and least irritating shaves ever.

You gotta do it right after a hot shower, the beard absorbs the water and thickens and is much easier to cut. Let the shaving cream soak in for a minute or two. Boars hair brush is a good buy.

I used to get razor burn and some infected follicles on the neck but I switched to a more sensitive non scented cream (aveeno), and a dab of tea tree oil after cleanup, smooth as butter

I started shaving once a week before 6th grade. I had to shave pretty much everyday in 7th grade and had sideburns in 8th. When I was a freshman in high school people thought I was a senior because of my facial hair. I have used many different razors and the best by far has been the Fusion. I have been keeping more facial hair recently and maybe shaving once or twice a week and my 8 pack has lasted me for months. Anyway, good luck with your new razor.

This is what surprised me the most. All the multi bladed cartridge razors claim closest shave ever, but I dunno if I could back that up after the super-close shave the DE gives me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

That's what I picked up, a boars brush. I'd heard lots of good things about badger, but from what I understand it can get a bit prickly. I may check it out down the line, but I think the boars hair will do fine for now...

Just picked up some Tabac Soap, I'll be interested to see if it helps the two spots on my neck where I get some problems at on occasion.

interesting..
I get razor burns all the fing time.. thats why I hate shaving, but I like smooth face.. I end up shaving every 2 weeks because razor burn is a *****..

Maybe I should check this stuff you got out?

I got the gillette fusion with vibration(like it makes any diffy) and it hurts like a ***** after i shave once.. I tend to go thru my face twice.. first time i would shave upwards and then second time i would go thru the face again but shaving downwards instead so that way it would be 100% smooth.. BUT by the time I reach to the second round, it hurts like a ***** i would just quit shaving and leave it a bit stubby when rubbing upwards..

not sure if i am clear?
this is opposite of what i do, I shave down first to get most of the longer hair and then i shave up to get rid of the stubble since its going against the grain of the hair and it gets really smooth... and i have a fusion. I go thru a cartridge about every 3 weeks shaving 2-3x a week, i hate those stupid things...
