anyone else shave with a double-edged safety razor?

i got tired of shelling out $3/cartridge for gilette fusion bullshit that cut up my face like no other.....so i bought a Merkur HD classic double-edged safety razor and a pack of 100 blades (for only $12 no less....100 fusion cartridges would cost me ~$250-300), and invested the extra money in some high-end pre-shave oil, shaving soap, aftershave, and a nice badger hair brush. just did my first shave and holy shitballs, what a difference.....easily the best shave i've ever had and my face feels great with no razor burn. i feel like i've been such a sucker all these years. the new setup:

my problem is a pack of 4 fusion blades will last me an entire year becasue i dont shave often i like to grow my beard

only the blades need to be replaced (the head opens up for the blade to pop out), there are no cartridges.....i got a pack of 100 blades for $12. how much would a pack of 100 fusion cartridges cost?

Yup, just started using one recently. Went with a Gillete adjustable. I believe they were called fatboys. I need to get a decent brush/soap now....just picked up a 100 pack of derby blades on ebay. Seem to be pretty good so far.

badgerandblade forums are great. been reading up....that's how i found the truefitt and hill deals. got about $350 worth of stuff for $130.

I heard using one of those brush thingies makes a difference, even with gilette razors and such.

I don't shave that often so a 4 pack of blades would last an indefinite amount of time.
