Anyone bag a nice deer yet?

Local friend of mine hit a 15 point buck yesterday. But it was a high shot, in the back, and it bolted. Its been sighted in the area the past couple weeks. I expect he'll get it within the week. He's probably out trying to track it down right meow.

Because I haven't! This weather is ******* stupid, nearly 70* in November! On the colder mornings, I have seen a few bucks and a few doe but nothing crazy. I have ran across the same 140"~ 8pt'er three times but never really had a shot at him. I took one shot at about 20 yards but my arrow stuck right into a tree branch about 10ft in front of the deer. A HUGE open area and he stands right behind a downed tree.
I am in a ground blind at this spot, well, not a ground blind really. I have a folding canvas chair in some 4ft tall grassy junk, works really well though! I had a spike literally get close enough that I could have reached out and touched him if I wanted to and he never seen me. I haven't seen any action at either of my stands yet this year except for beaver, fox and coyote. The tree stand areas are usually good when it is cold as balls and snow on the ground.
So you are bow-hunting...........................what does the deer get to use?

I envy you two from Iowa with ground to hunt. Schutte and Scott... **** you.

I'm going to try and get out in 2nd shotgun, but we'll see. I haven't been out in 5 years.

Where in Iowa are you? I am always happy to share my land...

I went out again this morning and again before sunset. I seen 10-12 this morning, a few spikes, a nice 10pt and a decent sized 8pt'er along with a bunch of doe. As I was heading to my other stand I spooked up a nice sized doe fallowed by a MASSIVE buck! Honestly, the biggest I have ever seen and last year I got a 170", I would guess this thing to be near 200"!! It was about 30 yards out and hot after the doe but I had to just throw and arrow and hope for the best. I was about 1ft low, and of course I lost my $50~ arrow/broadhead...

This afternoon I saw a pretty beefy 8 pointer and another spike as well as a few doe and a few buck that weren't close enough to really make out. Rattling brought them in really nicely. I had one puff up real nice, stomp and YELL like a mofo...

Haven't done any whitetail hunting this year, since I'm drawing a mulie buck tag next year I've been out in mule deer areas scouting in my free time. We've only got about an inch of snow, and just in the past week been going below freezing at night, which is unusually warm for us in Northern Alberta.

A 160" whitetail is just a baby in my area. 170-180 inchers aren't easy to find but we do kill them (and bigger) every year.

I dont know if I could do it, but wont knock anyone else for hunting.

At least your eating to meat and not killing for the hell of it!

I been in TN for 2 years and I see 2/3 doe in my backyard every morning eating my pears. Im a city boy and still get surprised @ how big deer get!

Still waiting to see a full rack buck tho..
