Anybody ever noticed the MASSIVE size differende of the magnet between cvr 12 and 15

As the topic says. I was looking because the comp and vr 12 have sim. sized magnets and then between the comp and vr 15's major difference . So then I put a CVR 12 and 15 next to each other and I bet the 15 has almost double the depth of magnet and I bet 40 percent wider which equals about double surface area and double almost double height. I know with most speakers I have dealt with in the past between the 12 and 15 although the 15 obviously has a good amount more cone area would have same size to 10 percent larger magnet.. . Just curious if anybody else has seen this. I would bet it has close to 150oz mag on the 15. Looks bigger than L5 mag and almost as big as L7. According to kickers website has more motor force than L5 and almost same as L7. Such an inexpensive woofer.. maybe it has potential . Also I noticed it looks like the 12 has a 2 inch coil and the 15 has a 3 inch

For one, motor size has not anything to do with the subs strength. It is the coil and the reliability of the moving parts to sustain the strength. 2 thanks for stating the obvious between different series and sizes of subs. 3 learn the english language, you said double the size 3 times in one sentence. So are you saying it is 4 times the size?

Wait a minute. NO where in that topic did I say double then 3 times.. obviously you have trouble reading the english language as you stated I have trouble writing it. And actually the motor size plays an important role in the motor strength as well as other factors such as .... material of the magnet. Coil material and width and thickness. I am aware of these things... I would assume so more than yourself so go hump a goat lol. Also the suspension seems fairly strong for being a softer suspension

So what your sayin is a sony xplod motor and a DD motor arent any different? its the soft parts?

Dont you need more slugs for higher BL?

explain

Ummm I like your example... But honestly the width of the mag has a lot more to do with motor force than the height. The height allows it to hold the higher BL for longer excursion

Correct

mill it out and put a 4in coil in it for daily //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I am just saying, that motor size does not mean it has alot of strength. Yes it does play a role if it is designed to have alot of strenght like a 60 lb magnet. But I have also seen subs with huge motors, made out of a different material than the average and had the shittyest coil. I am just saying that motor size is not an important roll in strength. But you do need that depth for more excursion also.

Gotcha!

Like konakis 9500 rip offs, good motor, crappy softparts-- well shitty glue on the spiders anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Yeah except that konaki motor ended up having more motor force than the DD 9500 of the same design (not the new motor, the one before the 400oz one)

Yes I realize this. But typically for most "mainstream decent quality companies" the magnet size gives a good idea of output of the speaker. Does it hold 100 percent true... HELL NO. But I have heard the same line of subs the 12's with the much smaller mag in a ported box and they SLAMMED. That is why I would like to hear some more input

Interesting, anyone have 6 of these motors laying around? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I wish. I looked a few months ago and those subs that were selling for like 150 each for a 12 went up to like 250 lol. Dunno why. And now I just looked and they dont' even have konaki subs anymore
