any worries when EBAY buying?

So, I'm looking around for amps so I can slowly start getting a system together. I see a bunch of stuff for sale on e-bay, like one guy has all these Soundstream amps that are tempting - but I'm just wondering, if it's new in the box as stated in the e-bay ad and the amp turns out to be a dud can one return the amp to Soundstream and get it fixed?

Anybody have any advice before buying on e-bay? Or is it just buyer beware?

Ive bought my Diamond S600S components, Rockford 501BD amp, 2 Orion HCCA 2100's, and an Orion HCCA 250 G5 all from Ebay.

SO far, good luck. The 501 bd and the s600's were from a dealer, the rest were from joe blows.

Im sure there are some MFers out there for sure.

Im gonna be selling my 501 bd and the 250 G5 amp soon, I dont need them when I have the 2 other big dogs!

I've bought lots of stuff on eBay (most of my stereo), and never had a problem. I usually only buy from people with lots of positive feedback, people really value their feedback rating.

My brother bought a used flip out DVD head unit on eBay once, and all the inputs were screwed, he returned it and got his money back, minus shipping though. You've gotta watch who you buy from. Also most companies will not honor their warranties if their products were purchased on eBay...

If Soundstream is paying close attention, then no, it comes with absolutely no warranty from soundstream. This applies to most companies too. Some companies are better at it than others are though........a few companies you may be able to slip an ebay purchase in on them and get it warranited.

I advise buying from an authorized dealer instead of off the net/ebay whenever possible. Of course, some people have a very limited selection of products from local dealer(s); like myself.......I can only get like 5 or 6 brands locally. But if you can find a product you like locally, then talk down the dealer in price. At my local dealers I can usually talk them down about 30-40% off of their asking price, which gets me pretty close to net/ebay prices, but I also have full warranty with the product.

I have only bought older stuff that is no longer available off of ebay (Coustic Design Reference amps/xovers) and so far so good.

make sure that the person has a good feedback fourm. its also nice to buy from an online dealer, but there are some "Joe Blows" that you can trust. I buy stuff from there all the time
