Well i cut the dustcap off. Found the metal tube attatched to the cone was hitting the magnet. So i bent it back into place gently...and now it plays ok. I think the suspension is broke nthough because it extends beyond were it should and distorts at the lower frequencies but thats open air. Ill get a box and an amp to play at its specs and then get back to ya'll.

Thats how you learn everything, I used to do this when I was like 5 years old...
How old are you now? 6?

I've resoldered tinsel leads too but thats not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about resoldering the copper in the coil if it's broke.

The fact that the still plays means the coil isn't dead.. It may be on the verge of dying, or broke. But it's not dead. He might be able to fix the sub for very cheap, he might not.

Revrider1, stop talking like you know it all.

Well i ran it at around 33 rms free air (sub is rated for 350 in its enclosure) and it sounded good. Did test tones 20-60 and no problems. It reached full x-max close to 125 rms so i kept it low so as not to fry the suspension too hard. WHat i htought was blown suspension was just becaus eit was in free air and extending too early in the power range. Its had probably 30 minutes play time since i fixed it and no problems yet. ill build a box, get a 300w rms amp and then test it in my truck!

Thanks bama!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
