Did you say the dust cap came off?

It looks normal. It only works when yo push on the dustcap to hold the cone back from over extending. The cap is fine. It plays when its not pushed on but its very distorted. It only plays decently when you push on it. Something attatched to the cone is scraping/scratching on something and causing distortion. YOu can hear it scratch on something when you push on it when the power is off.

Well its from a home audio setup. I was hoping i could try and fix it and use it in my truck since my dad already got a replacement. ANy suggestions are welcome since its no loss to me.

"you" cant fix it, but i wouldnt advise wasting your time on trying

but your losing me with over extended sub? my first thought was it jumped the gap or something, sounds misaligned to me, one of my MT's did it, i could press donw ont he surround at a certain spot and it would stop

Ill learn and not destroy something not laready destroyed eh!

Any place i should start first. What should i look for. I was trying to get a basis on what might be wrong and possible ways to fix it. If i have a general area to start it owuld be helpfull. ANy ideas?

The problem is, you need to have a recone kit. You have to cut the suround and then I believe you pull it out. (If I missed something someone correct me)

Thats how you learn everything, I used to do this when I was like 5 years old...
