Any thoughts on MMATS speakers?

So I figured I should post this in another thread, rather than use the first one I had...

I have a '92 Caprice Wagon that I bought, and I was under the impression that the speakers were blown in it, because they sounded like they were. My dad and I pulled the panels away and take a look and see what size I needed, and he said they weren't blown.

They're 6x9's by some company called MMATS. I've never heard of them, but really I'm not too well versed in audio as it is. They each have their own crossover, which I thought was kind of neat. Anyway, my dad says I may need a small amp, because my head unit may not be powerful enough for the speakers, and that's why they sound so bad. Thoughts?

Anyone heard of the company? Experience? I'm interested.
