Any Team Maxxsonics guys around?

I hate to break it to you but Hifonics amps ARE indeed over rated. When I see them benched as under rated, there was a 100 Hz test tone run through a non-reactive resistive load. I will come back and say, try running a 20Hz to 80 Hz white noise signal with a reactive resistive load and let's see what those power output numbers are. With those amps trying to push 20 to 80 Hz into a reactive resistive load, I would be shocked if they make more than 70% of rated power at their given distortion levels!

ETA: I want Team Maxxsonics to prove me wrong! Pick any 08 BXi Class D amp off the shelf, bench it with white noise from 20 to 80 Hz into a reactive resistive load, and post the power/distortion results! If you can get a 1208, 1608, and 2008 to produce rated power without clipping under these circumstances, I will NEVER call these amps overrated again!

I haven't used a Hifonics amp since the bx2005 which was a huge disappointement. In a direct swap my RF T10001bd was louder on the TL and my Sundown saz-1500d was even louder than that. I'll never use or recommend another Hifonics amp ever again.

I'd like to say I saw these results coming...

I haven't been at all impressed by the Hifonics stuff I have installed for others. But they do have cool light up names on them!

The only thing that concerns me with those bench numbers is "how" did they rate the amp? Was it rated with a single frequency, such as a 100Hz tone OR did they rate it with all frequencies that the amplifier was designed to produce? I would be willing to bet that they picked a single frequency for the bench numbers and chances are it is a frequency that most users won't even play through their amplifiers. After all, who here runs their subwoofer crossover above 100 Hz? Oddly, that is the single frequency that most bench testers seem to choose:confused:

Then, we also have the question as to what resistive load did they use? If they use a reactive load, such as a subwoofer, the impedance rise will get them at 100 Hz. A non-reactive load, such as a constant dummy load, remains consistent and this alone should negate their numbers because it is not a "real world" situation.

frequency response was 10hz to 400hz

The best Hifonics amps were the old ones anyway....Back when the gods gave them their power....
it is an older amp... bout 6-7yrs old if i were to guess

Regardless, I am taking it that Team Maxxsonics isn't popping in here to prove me wrong because he can't!
There is only 1 maxxsonics member that i can think of on this forum.

Either way, i like the upper end stuff. I have also been to their headquarters, its tits!

I know this because I saw him in the other thread talking up the 2009 Brutus line. I thought he would have jumped at the opportunity to silence myself, along with all the other Hifonics bashers.

If I hadn't seen a BXi 1608d clip @ 800 watts RMS on a 2 ohm load on a 50 Hz test tone with my own two eyes, I would have never made these assertions.
