Any subs comparable to a 13w7? Want a new setup.

Ok, I think I'm firing on the 12" HDC3 and the AQ1200 sub. I'm going to build a 2.5ft^3 box, don't know what to tune it to yet though (probably 38). Will this setup be comparable to a 13w7 SPL wise you think?

Was the W7 in a sealed or ported enclosure and what amp did he have pushing it? Also what vehicle was his in and what is yours going in?
him = escalade (I know, more air space)

me = mazda6

Was a ported enclosure, and I believe it was the 1/1000 JL amp.

You are definitely going to be close if not louder. Like you mentioned he has a much bigger cabin which is to your advantage. You have basically the same power and he has a little more cone area. Build the box right and you might even take him.

Even with the 1200 amp? I can't afford the 2200. That would be awesome though wow.
yes... although its obvious you and your friend think the W7 is god, its far from it, its a top 25% driver, but not a top 5% in my opinion. yes, with an hd3c 12" ported 2cubes @38hz on 1200w should sound just as good and be louder than his W7, if you want to be SURE of it, get the 2200 and the 15" and slaughter him, and the electrical to back it up

A HDC3 12 in the proper enclosure ought to spank a 13W7 in SPL, seeing that the W7 isn't much of an SPL woofer. The 1200D will work fine for you, but the 2200 will really unlock its potential.

I would get the 2200 + 15" if my stock electrical system could handle it. I just don't want to get into all that mess. I think the 12" + 1200 will work good for what I want.

well if electrical is the issue, and you CAN run the 1200, there is still no reason you can't run the 15" or the 18", or even 2 15" sd2.5's lol, unless you trying to spank him with a similiar sized sub, theres ALOT of AQ options to hand him his ***

I had always heard 12 is the best "all-around" size, no? Because 15's can't punch "tight" enough and 18's are just too low. Hm.... This thread has just increased my indecisiveness lol
