Any sound advantages?

I'm designing a box for a 08 RE xxx 12" D2, so far i got 2.55 ft^3 tuned to ~34hz (mfc specs and got my size dimensions already), Then putting a plexi window SOMEWHERE (depending on the answers to these following questions).

1)What i want to know is if there is an acoustical advantage to having the sub firing up into the hatch, backwards into the tail lights or to the side?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

2)Also, will i experience any different sound/spl if the port is firing up into a hatch or into the tail lights?

Its putting ahold onto my design, any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you:D
