Any of you guys work on 2 strokes?

Im having trouble with one of my rides, its a 2002 yamaha blaster, 2 stroke 244. Got quite a bit of work done to it and its been running weird/low on compression for a while now. I pulled the top end off today to find a broken reed (FMF reed cage, which only FMF reeds fit) so im having fun finding those. But my question is, would the broken reed be the cause of my low compression? Im pretty familiar with engines i just cant picture how the reed would work with top end compression. I just rebuilt it last sept with a wiseco sleeve and 240 piston kit, brand new top and bottom end basically. Im thinking about throwing a new set of rings on while i have the top end off just to be safe? What would you guys do?

v-force ftw ! then get some rings and high compression piston run some 114 octane ! man uP!
I used to run my banshee on 110 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Nice. Ive toned down my shee over the past few years. Kept getting tickets for my toomy's and all that jazz. Plus running 420 jets kills on fuel. I went back down to a 270 i think so im in the middle of testing that. Being cold out i cant get accurate results. Need to wait until summer.

I dont think a broken reed would cause any top end compression. Most likey a bad jug or piston.

I love the smell of racing fuel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif I run it in my 440 race sled once in a while. I have a taller head gasket in it than stock though so I can run pump gas on the trail

It was a beast at one point. I put almost 10g's into the thing. Only thing stock on it is the frame and body lol. I wanted to put a cheetah motor in it at one point and do some ice racing in wisconsin. 500cc's running 110 with some studded tires would be nuts i think. Good rush for the afternoon.

You know whats funny is my blaster will walk all over a banshee as well. ( a near stock one atleast) I love it because of the whole sleeper deal. I wish i still had those vids of me tearing up that full drag 400ex a friend of mine had, had a 426 / 440 or some shit, stroked and everything, ran on 110, did ok in the top end but was slow as **** in general. Id get him in the 8th or 1/4th but he had probably 10 more mph in his than i did so hed get me out on the back roads and such. I think i have the vids on youtube or something though ill see if i can find them. Idk what imma do about the reeds

Check out a company named Boysen. I'm sure they'll have reeds to fit your appl.

I've rebuilt lots of Jet Skis. Reeds impact throttle response big time. Just measure the compression before you decide to replace the rings if they're fairly new.
