same thing as orion amps, dei amps, ect.

all made by DEI - i am not a fan of any new audio equipment out of the DEI labs tbh.

I have one of the old PCX amps (PPI PCX280, made the first or second year that DEI owned PPI) . It has served me well. Never gets hot, good crossover network, rated at 80x2@4, benched 95x2@4, etc.

If I were forced to buy all new amps for my setup, I would probably go with DEI because I'm poor and they have a nice price / performance ratio.

old ppi amps are awesome. specifically anything durring the "PC" [power class] era and before. the year they released the "PCX" series, DEI had just bought them out, and they were trying to get rid of their old stock - the year after that [if im not mistaken] they released all re-designed garbage [imo] and have not put out a quality amp since.

but, thats all my oppinion.

PCX AND PC series are still my fav amps to date. I wouldnt bother touching the DCX series. There are better options out there..

Honestly if you open a PCX beside a Power Class the components are not installed with the attention to detail that is seen in the Power Class amps. At least the few that I have see the inside of. As far as the DCX amps I have talked to some installers that say they are a fine amp still. One thing I don't understand on some of these forums is the praise for Orion, Viper and even Hifonics yet everyone rips on the PPI. It just doesn't make since. True they are not the old school amps but neither are the rest of them. I have compared prices on 5 channels and you simply can not get more bang for the buck with any other amp. Granted that is IkeSound prices but still. I think they are at least as good as any other DEI product.

I'm running all PPI amps for my SQ install due late March

PPI PCX440 for horns

PPI PCX4125 for midrange

two PPI PCX2200's for subs

I've had the 4125 for about a year and its amazing

The PCX2200s are class ab so they arent too efficient but i'm getting a new alt soon

The 440 has seen very little action but it works so i'm happy

The 4125 has been used on DLS UR6, HD62, Koda 8, a single Ava15, and then also two Ava15s, and i have no complaints at all
