Any advantage using REMOTE BASS controller vs. H/U bass level?

I have Arc 4150 XXK's. I haven't connected them yet but was wondering if there was any advantage using the amp's remote bass controller vs. using the Eclipse H/U bass level control?

one's a bass boost, other's a gain control(maybe?).

HU control = one less thing to buy / worry about breaking.

when i adjusted my gain, i had the bass level on the HU to max. that way, i know there will be little to no clipping for sure.

bass knob...you can get bass happy sometimes:veryhapp: which is the bigger risk of clipping

only time i would ever use the bass knob is for certain tracks that dont hit as hard, but then again, i only up it 1 or 2 db

That's what I was thinking also. I would think antenuating it via direct control vs. through the H/U would be more seamless...

So am I correct in that the Bass Level (aka Non-Fader) control to an amp is NOT a gain control, but rather a voltage regulator to boost the bass?

That complicates things. So what are the "Sub Woofer Level Controls" in H/U's in Alpine or Eclipse -- bass boost or remote amp gains?

My Eclipse has a 'level control' that just boosts the voltage of that preout.

yeah, the bass boost on my soundstorm 350.2 amp is 0-18 db then the bass remote controls the amp's gain or the bass i'm not sure which yet.
