Another remote wire question

How can I connect multiple amps to a Kenwood KDC-X789? As far as I can tell, it only has one remote wire for an amp (it's labeled as external amplifier control wire). So, how can I connect two? I have one for my subs and one for my mids.

On a side note, I'm pi$$ed that my aftermarket wiring harness (for an '01 Tahoe) doesn't have a wire for the mute function! Any way to still use it?

Thanks in advance!

run another length of the remote from one amp to another. Should be enough voltage for the two to turn on. If not, you'll need a relay.

Make sense?

Running the remote wire from amp to amp makes sense. I wasn't thinking that the remote wire only had to carry enough juice to make the amp turn on. Hopefully that'll work. If not, I'll be asking about how to set up a relay!

Which mute function are you talking about? The mute for the head unit? That's controlled either by the head unit itself and/or by the remote. I am not directly familiar with the 789 so I don't know if there is a way to mute it directly from the deck itself or not. The KDC-X569 I had once could only be muted from the remote. The X679 I have now can be muted from the deck or the remote. But there's no wire in the harness that controlled that function at all, regardless of what type of vehicle it is installed in.

If you're not talking about the mute for the head unit itself then disregard this entire post. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think I have something like that. If you ground it, it mutes the radio, so you can probably hook it up to a switch to mute. Well thats the way mine works, so i don't know your radio might burn if you try it. So I'd advise probably not to try it unless you want to. BTW I have a Sony HU.
