Another Log: Dual IDmax box: 3onDubs

Maybe...it's up to James at this point. I definitely owe him for this box because he did all the work basically for nothing. If he would be willing to build me another box, i'd definitely compensate him for both.
I'll definitely build another one. Just because it'll be for IDmax's. Also 3onDubs is a very cool guy. I would give him a good feedback even though the transaction didn't go through. Once you get that cardboard box done and see what fits, get back to me.

I was thinking that we could have the two subs share the same airspace and have the ports in the middle of the two.

I'm pretty sure that i can fit a box that has these dimensions into the trunk opening:

W: 30"

D: 24"

H: 13.5" (will give me 3/4" on each side of the sub's outer ring after it's mounted)

The volume of that box would be 4.45 cu. ft. before port and sub displacement....i don't know what the best way to port this would be, but im thinking that if the box is a single chamber, then we can have the round ports in the middle of the faceplate (in between the subs)...one on the top and one on the bottom....would this work?
I'll say go w/ a shorter depth and a lil more height. After measuring yesterday, ~21"ish depth seems good.

I love my trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Biggest box I have had in it so far was 37" w x 16" h x 23" d, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Not too shabby...

And shipping alone will make it not worth selling...lol....that box is HEAVY, and it would probably be more worth it to sell it locally.

If anyone is local...this box is a good reason to go out and buy two max's or two xxx's. Just listening to the box outside of the car made me want to axe up my car in order to get it to fit....lol.

James is also a very cool guy. I paid him to build me the box, but he did much more than that....and didn't end up taking any money. He helped me for over two hours try and wrestle the box in....and was patient with my messy-*** wiring.

@James: Thanks a lot bro...i appreciate that. I was thinking the same thing about sharing the air space. I think those dimensions i just gave might work, but i just have to try it out with the cardboard to make sure (im definitely not gonna screw up twice...lol). Oh yeah....and sorry for killing your evening yesterday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

dont' worry man. The evening wasn't killed at all. It was all related to car audio, So I enjoyed it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

@James: I was thinking about it and it's pretty messed up what i did. I had you build a box (that I gave the measurements for) and you accrued all the costs and labor.....and then it didn't fit (which is my fault for not checking first), and your left with the box.

What I should have done was buy the box as agreed upon and then see if I can turn around and sell it on my own (since that shouldn't be your problem)....i was thinking that if you'd build me a second box, i can come down and pick both of them up. Let me know what you think //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif .

it's alright. There's someone interested in the box. I'm just hoping it'll fit in his trunk, and it's to his preferec specs too. He has a hatch Integra. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh snap...i was wondering why i wasn't getting any pm's...lol...I'll fix that.

The port lengths were the only thing i didn't have because i don't know how to calculate that. The other port lengths that i gave you (for the 5 cube box) were given to be by someone else a long time ago.

I'm guessing it would be the same as the last box's ports minus an inch on each...just guessing though.

I just checked out that site as well. Are they asking for the volume of the box before or after calculating port displacement?

I'm assuming before because you wouldn't know the port length yet otherwise....if so, the volume is 4.45 before displacement.

For that volume, i got 12" for the port length. (i didn't know that ports should get longer when the volume gets smaller

EDIT: Also, with the face plate measurements (13.5" X 30"), do you think that both ports can fit in between the subs? (i'm guessing it'll be a tight squeeze).
