haha I had the same problem with my IDW box... I ended up cutting 2.5 inches off each side after it was fully assembled... it was ghetto afterwords but lots of glue + carpeting fixed it's looks... no leaks afterwords either...

How wide, deep, and tall
What car were you tryin to put it in? lol
it's a wedge type box, back slanted so it could be pushed back to the seats.

16.5" high x 30" wide x 28" bottom depth x 20.6" top depth. Couldn't get into his BMW, forgot what year/model, but it's one sweet lookin ride.

325i i think...not sure. Im not good w/ car models.

man we tried every way possible to get that shit in there. After almost 2 hours, we threw in the towel.

now the box has some nicks and dents, but still all good.

Yea... had the same problem with my 6 CuFt @ 35 hz box... not pretty. That was when I was n00btastic. I guess that's the department SUV's truly shine.
hehe... I'm still kinda noobtastic and this is my 4th system... in any case 8.something cu ft was too big even for the SUV... a little cutting here and there + LOTS of wood glue solves the situation though

haha, I remember seeing your thread.

If anything I would much rather build another enclosure. Also, there is someone else iinterested in the box. Hopefully it'll fit into his vehicle (Acura Integra, hatchback i believe)

damm that sucks bigtime. is there any way you could take out the front seats and get it through that way?
It's a 2004 325i......without the fold down seats. I can take the back seats out easily, but there is a big metal plate seperating the car from the trunk (German "safety" feature....keeps all the bass in the trunk). I was actually considering cutting this metal piece, but we both agreed that building a new box would be MUCH wiser than hacking up the car.

@James....i think i cried a little on the way home...lol. That box was PERFECT in every way, shape, and form. Yesterday i felt like a the dumb kid trying to get the circle block in the square hole.

haha **** that sucks...gonna make him another box now?
Maybe...it's up to James at this point. I definitely owe him for this box because he did all the work basically for nothing. If he would be willing to build me another box, i'd definitely compensate him for both.

Yeah it did...kept setting off the car alarm...lol. You know what i was just thinking...if we took anything off the height of the box, how would the aeroports fit on the same face plate as the subs? Port the sides? Would that have the same effect?

EDIT: Ok, i just did a bunch of calculations.

I'm pretty sure that i can fit a box that has these dimensions into the trunk opening:

W: 30"

D: 24"

H: 13.5" (will give me 3/4" on each side of the sub's outer ring after it's mounted)

The volume of that box would be 4.45 cu. ft. before port and sub displacement....i don't know what the best way to port this would be, but im thinking that if the box is a single chamber, then we can have the round ports in the middle of the faceplate (in between the subs)...one on the top and one on the bottom....would this work?
