Another lawl @ caco & beware of patrick simmons (caco super fail topic)

Crunch never had a cheater amp that I can recall. Back in the day it was the american bass 75.1, mmats d300, IA 20.1 (the old one), and a few others.
I kept editing as i found the threads i was recalling, memphisflex talkin about how the gd6001 can do 3k rms wired to .5 daily, and he was strapping 2 to .25 per amp and getting a shi*ton of power. Don't know what the amp was actually rated for though. I assumed the cheater amps have been a USACI thing for years, it's been common since i joined the forum 2 or 3 years ago at least.

Just as I thought, people bitching because they can't run 4000 watts in a class that's supposed to be limited to 600 watts. I made the same argument on the MECA forums when people complained about possibly clamping there. People know they have WAY too much power for their class, but they got comfortable with it and didn't want to change.

In the end, clamping makes it more about the build than about how much power you can squeeze into your "rated" class.

I mean really, why even have such low ratings when everyone knows you'll need to use one or two specific amps to even have a chance?

It's like "hey, we know nobody follows the ratings, but that's ok because everyone does it!" Totally *** backwards.

I really do not understand why people jump on a company for having it assembled by another manufacturer. And the whole "RD = Reused Designs" was not funny. I guess we can go with "SD = Same Designs" huh?
Many companies manfacturer for others, it is called "business".

Fi > Crossfire - SSA - SMD - and few others

IA > Sundown

SJA > Atomic - RD - Use to be ID - and few others

Credence > Old Kicker - Dr Crankenstein and few others

TC Sounds > Eclipse at one time - Soundsplinter - and so forth

Dan Wiggans is doing Stereo Integrity now - ew , but anywho.

What is the big deal?
it's because when RD was first getting started, their reps would constantly say "No, it's nothing like atomic, It's much better"

Dude, nearly everybody in the industry uses those spiders. Take a look at fi, team psi, IA, and so forth. It's the same spiders manufacturered by the same company (nuway I believe). Obviously they offer different materials and compositions, but they all come from the same place. Anybody else could use the same materials as RD if they wanted.
As for the coils, theres what, ONE company in the USA that makes them? Precision econowind. It's the same aluminum flatwound coil that everyone else uses, the ONLY difference, and I mean ONLY, is that the dimensions (mainly the winding height) would be different. THAT'S IT. And that's only if the gap heights are different from atomic subs.

The same goes for the surrounds and cones. There's only so many choices.

So like I said, for steve to call "his" subs better than "george's" subs is clearly a stupid statement since SJA designs and builds both subs. Sure, if steve has the autocad drawings that he made himself to prove that he designed him, then perhaps I'd give him some credit. But you and I both know the odds of that are slim. Could RD subs perform better for some competitors? Sure, but I'm sure the opposite could be said as well if somebody was sponsored by atomic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Of course many guys in USACi (and only usaci mind you) are running RD subs and amps. Why? Because their "600" watt amp does 4000 watts at .25 ohm. Of course the shit's gonna work well for usaci. Steve's just playing with the ratings on that one. Any company could do the same thing, but only a few do (cactus would be an example). There's nothing special about cheating the rating system. USACi needs to get with the times. 4 ohm ratings? Come on now.
I read the first statement and read no more. Polycotton and nomex are 2 different materials. Please, post more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You aren't limited to 2 companies in the 600 watt class.

Treo cxt4.1 / Cactus pf600 / DD M3 / RD D5 / MMats 3500.5 / IA 20.1 / DB Drive 2000.1 / ...

All are rated under 600watts @ 4ohms, all wire down to almost nothing and put out massive amounts of power.

USACi would be better off leaving everything the way it is now. If someone complains that their $300 amp isn't competitive and they kick any amp that does good power out of the class, I'm going to complain that my $5,000 truck isn't competitive and get them to kick loud vehicles (S-10s and CRXs) out of the class. The year after that someone will complain that their subs aren't competitive and all efficient subwoofers will be banned.

It's like showing up to an F1 race in a Yugo and calling everyone in a race car a cheater. If you want to win 1st @ finals, you bring an $800 amp and some efficient subs mounted in a well designed enclosure in a rex or an s-dime... otherwise you're wasting your time. It's not that hard to figure out...

By all means, show me who manufacturers the spiders for RD? I'd wager that the same company also makes spiders for atomic (gasp!), fi, re, ia, and so forth.

Also, I don't believe that you didn't read my entire post, you just found one thing to disagreed on and rolled with it.

Someone complains about something every year, thats nothing new. lol.

The point I was trying to make is that you HAVE to use specific amps for classes in order to even have a chance. I understand the classes, but really it's just so out of date that it's laughable. I'm sure usaci is wondering why they are losing manufacturer support. Well theres one reason why. Why as a company would kicker or RF or any "big" company sponsor shows when they know their products are pretty much worthless in every class? I know I wouldn't pay $10,000 for a booth at finals if nobody is running my gear.

Going to actual power opens the door for EVERY manufacturer to have equipment in cars at finals. Going back to the good ole days where cars were filled with RF, memphis, kicker, mmats, etc. Nowadays you need to use a handful of brands in order to win.

You want a racing analogy? Here's one. I bring my 400 hp n/a car to compete in a 400 hp class. But the guy I'm going against has a turbo and 200 shot of nitrous. Sure, his engine is 400 hp naturally aspirated, but he adds on another 400 hp with the turbo and nitrous. Nobody says anything because hey, it's 400 hp naturally aspirated! It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'll play by the rules wherever I compete, but it doesn't mean that I think the rules make sense. Hell, MECA's rules are totally jacked up but that's what is around me so that's what I compete in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

MidwestSPL is on the right track if you ask me.

Not really, I don't come on here to "act" like I know everything.

Not once did I say their spiders are the same, but you say Fi, IA, and RE use same spiders as well. SJA uses a pollycotton spider and Fi uses nomex. They are NOT the same. So again, post some more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I am going by the rules. My amp does 500watts @ 4ohms. My car has 400hp at the wheels.

Are you not American??? They give an inch, you take a mile... It's the American way! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

USACi is the main game in my area and I quickly adapted to the rules all while spending far less than I would have if I was competing in dB Drag.

And i spent 3...saw lots of ******* getting tatted up and joining SS out of fear...typical

they joined Secret Santa??

i read too much of this thread... steve, this was very unprofessional and whenever someone talks shit about another, it only looks bad on you man...

shoulda kept this to PMs
