Dude, nearly everybody in the industry uses those spiders. Take a look at fi, team psi, IA, and so forth. It's the same spiders manufacturered by the same company (nuway I believe). Obviously they offer different materials and compositions, but they all come from the same place. Anybody else could use the same materials as RD if they wanted.
As for the coils, theres what, ONE company in the USA that makes them? Precision econowind. It's the same aluminum flatwound coil that everyone else uses, the ONLY difference, and I mean ONLY, is that the dimensions (mainly the winding height) would be different. THAT'S IT. And that's only if the gap heights are different from atomic subs.
The same goes for the surrounds and cones. There's only so many choices.
So like I said, for steve to call "his" subs better than "george's" subs is clearly a stupid statement since SJA designs and builds both subs. Sure, if steve has the autocad drawings that he made himself to prove that he designed him, then perhaps I'd give him some credit. But you and I both know the odds of that are slim.
Of course many guys in USACi (and only usaci mind you) are running RD subs and amps. Why? Because their "600" watt amp does 4000 watts at .25 ohm. Of course the shit's gonna work well for usaci. Steve's just playing with the ratings on that one. Any company could do the same thing, but only a few do (cactus would be an example). There's nothing special about cheating the rating system. USACi needs to get with the times. 4 ohm ratings? Come on now.
