Another fedex nightmare

you guys cant seriously blame fedex. i work for fedex and we have strict rules for shipping packages. dont blame the shipping company, blame the packager
You have no clue what goes on with drivers, packers, etc. You know what YOU do at YOUR station and that's the extent of your knowledge. How things are suppose to be done, and how things are REALLY done are 2 different things. These packages go through many different stations, and who know what can happen. I've seen packages that were shipped shitty arrive without a scratch on them, and others that were given the best precautions to make sure nothing would happen, and arrive damaged. And this from a company that stated my sub (3months ago) was delivered, and never was untill 4 days later. Come to find out, the driver scanned it as delivered, but never did. All this just to get home early to go out. So really, you have no room to speak on behalf of any other fedex (or any other shipping company) employee.

I'm not saying your a bad person, just that if you openly throw things, your definetely not impressing me.

I've been promoted in my job, and scanning is nothing special really. I'm glad your moving up, but you really shouldnt of said that you throw packages.

If that lead to promotions, everyone would get them.

I'm not speaking on behalf of fed ex, im just saying that no one who values other peoples things should go on to say he throws packages.

Its not really worth arguing over, i just take pride in my work ethics of avoiding throwing things.

throwing packages just comes with the territory. i dont know what your position as a handler is, but over here we are yelled at if we dont get packages off the belt and into the cans as fast as possible by the managers. its happened more than once where after the P1 goes out, the manager stops the belt, gathers every handler and yells at us for not finishing in time or making a few packages late. i understand we're not supposed to the throw packages, but its just how we have to go about things when we're rushed. when i first started i was super careful with everything, but quickly learned taking care with every package as if it was something of mine made it backup the entire system and it lead to me being yelled at and sent help to clean up my mess that i caused. during the P2 sort is when stuff is handled a little more carefully since it doesnt have to be out til around 11pm we have almost all the time we need.

and yes oxsign, there are sloppy couriers that often have no respect for delivering packages, thats why alot of routes open up all the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. they're dealt with once its brought to the attention of a manager or something. so if you dont get something that says is delivered make sure you call your local fedex and find out what station it came from. they can trace which driver had the package and they will be dealt with

Yeah i know the rush feeling, and you'll probably be able to get better w/ time.

I've been there over a year now, and easily one of the best workers there, which isnt hard to do really. But you'll learn to move faster, think quicker when looking at addresses. It took me a few months to really learn all that stuff,.

I know sometimes its impossible to keep up w/ the rush, but honestly anytime i've had a manager tell me to move faster, i have told them that im moving as quick as possible, and that there needs to b a bit of recap time to catch up. They cant really get mad at you for doing the job right.

Managers are generally the larger hypocrits there. We had one manager get caughtin picking his nose and whiping it on a box. A worker called him out on it lol. Needless to say he changed shifts and jobs. lol

I just had this happen with ups and they are gonna cut me a check for $600 for 1 10" w7 so I got a good deal out of it lol.

I was the Recipent! HA but it got worked out. Tell me that XXX wasnt packed well.

I work in the shipping industry for a company than handels fedex, UPS, and DHL. Iv seen UPS People see how far then can throw a heavy package, then another guy go get the package and say I can throw it farther //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

This is what it is, if the package is super heavy 80+ lbs it will not get thrown, it will mostly liklely get rolled if at all. Its all in the packaging, bubble wrap can be your best friend. as well as anything foam. If you look at the bottom of the box it states the gross weight the box can handel as well as weight per sq in. Fragile stickers forget about em. the Yellow Heavy stickers makes someone at least think twice. What I would like to try is Some Hazmat labels, I.E Radioactive, Infectious Substance etc. But heard there is a big fine if thats not whats in the box. Plus all the paperwork for it.

Also as you might think the bigger the customer the safer the package usually. DELL/JEGS/ other big companys who have big accounts will get there stuff handeled a little better. I'm not saying they dont break stuff, but probly not as much as joe Blow.

Also pick up some red arrow stickers, not all but some will point them in the right direction.
