There is no oil well on the globe that doesn't offer some sort of environmental impact. Tree huggers think they are being so environmentally conscious by demanding we stop drilling in the gulf. That would simply mean more wells are drilled somewhere else. If you want to make a positive environmental impact, sell your car and buy a bicycle. Everything else is just hypocritical. Yes, that includes electric cars, because the vast majority of the electricity generated for our power grid comes from burning coal. Why? Because you same tree huggers also scream bloody murder if we try to build nuclear power plants.

Lastly, its you tree huggers that caused the oil spill in the gulf to be such a monumental problem. We are forced to drill in such deep water because environmentalists wont let us drill in the shallow waters close to shore. So when a problem happens like what occurred earlier this year, fixing it becomes a nightmare at the depths we have been forced to drill in. So when this nightmare does occur, do the environmentalists take ANY responsibility? Nope. They just scream to drill in someone elses back yard.

Do you realize how many billions of dollars we funnel to the middle east for oil? Do you know Cuba leased rights to China to build rigs and drill for oil off their coast? What, 50 miles from Florida? Just so the Chinese can **** up our oil, ship it to China to refine, then sell back to us in the U.S. for a hefty profit.

There's about a million reasons why depending on the middle east for our lifeblood (oil) is a terrible idea.

Fact is that there's WAAAAAY more oil under the ground than we're led to beleive. Oil companies want us to think it's really scarce or running out (so they can charge more ie. false scarcity of diamonds by the DeBeers cartel).

The preasure on most of the really deep wells is so great that our best technology can't hold it in the ground when we tap into it. Fact is the stuff is about as common as dirt and even without selling gasoline the oil companies would make a profit on plastics and other byproducts anyway. Enjoy paying 3$ a gallon for gasoline while a few oligarchs live like Caligula.

I'm all for drilling for oil, but it would be nice to have some real accountability from these oligarchs when they **** things up.

if you have ever watched the show where they drill for oil you would see why accidents occur . they push there employees to the breaking points working like 16 hr days getting a few hrs sleep and coming back in the next day and doing itall over . when your employees are worked like dogs . stupid shit happens much more frequently
