allright i'm still looking into buying a cd player and i need some opinions. what do u guys prefer, clarion or pioneer? i saw a 2004 model pioneer 7600 for $220 http://www.sbhcorp.com/scripts/homeViewItem-996.html which looks good but i can't seem to find detailed specs on it anywhere. it's between that or a Clarion ProAudio DXZ835MP http://www.crutchfield.com/S-o4SYDPLLO1x/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?a=&s=0&cc=01&g=62700&id=whats_included&i=020DXZ835M i'll order it from ikesound.com. what would you guys buy? o and the pioneer will come out to $250 after i buy a $30 aux input wire and the clarion will be $220 total. thanks guys

I would vote alpine over them. I think the new pioneers look like plastic pieces of crap. Clarions are good, but i dislike the layout. Granted evertyhing i'm saying is opinion, but i think you ould be happier with an alpine.

yeah i was looking at some alpines but there too expensive to get the features that i want like a good looking screen. i think i'll go with the pioneer 7600 has anyone ever heard of these? theres not much of a difference in the premier models besides the 2 year warranty and the premier badging on the cd player right? cuz they don't have a premier 7600 atleast not yet and i want to order within the next 2 weeks cuz my screen should be arriving shortly and i'll need audio

JLCivic what did the screen look like on the 835? not as good as the pioneers i imagine?

Well, the 835 has the 728 different color options so matching the deck lighting to your car's lighting should be relatively easy. I thought the deck had a good display(I did turn the screensavers off though...just not my thing), was easy to read in direct sunlight, never skipped and was easy to use. For $220, it is a steal.

well i'm used to pioneers controls and i like their display i was just kinda looking for something different cuz everyone around here has a pioneer. how easy is the clarion to find mp3's on it and use? my friend has an alpine with mp3's and it's kinda hard cuz it doesn't have a very good screen so it doesn't say the whole song title on it.

and i really like how pioneers volume goes up to 62 so you can fine tune the volume, what does the clarion go up to? does the clarion have a built in high pass filter to take away the bass from my speakers like the pioneer. ohh that might be the deciding factor.....

Clarion's volume goes to 33 I believe(hell, Eclipse's goes to 80), but I don't think how high the volume goes on the deck really has any impact.

The Clarion 835 does have a high pass filter i believe.

i would go with performance over looks but the pioneer always come with great features along with the looks. don't get me wrong alpines are great but i think you get more for your money with pioneer

i know it doesn't matter how high it goes it's just better for fine tuning how loud it is because you can turn it up very little at a time. and well performance (atleast of the internal amp) doesn't really matter a whole lot because i have a bose system in my car and for now i will be using the built in amps. hey does anyone know why the pioneer 7600 has 3 sets of 2 volt preouts when the 7500 has 3 sets of like 4 or 5 volts. i can't imagine they'd lower the voltage on the 2004 model but that'ts what crutchfield says and it's also 300 while the 7500 is 350 on crutchfield. why is it cheaper even tho it's next years model??? anybody know this?

I think pioneer is starting to cut corners on their HU's. Not only do they look cheap now, they don't have the performance they had even last year. I think they figured people would start buying the name because they had a pretty good reputation.

you don't think alpine is doing this either? all the big companies now i believe are cutting corners especially rockford now.

that just doesn't make sense that they would make a newer cd player with lower pre amp voltage. maybe crutchfield is wrong because they don't have a whole lot of info on it. i think i might be going with the clarion 219 shipped

X2

I have seen many posts from people who changed from older alpines to newer ones

and say the new ones just don't sound as nice. Sure they have more features, but

that doesn't always equate to sounding better.

I think any big player can become a little complacent, be it pioneer, alpine, whoever.

The day that I think Eclipse decks of today don't sound as good or better than my older eclipses, I will move on to another brand.
