another Alpine / Ipod question...

Right now I have an Alpine 9807 HU in my car. I picked it so that I could play mp3 CDs. I'm still using the stock speakers in my Accord, so it's not any kind of high-end set-up or anything.

My question is would I be better off getting the cable to connect the 9807 to my ipod, or upgrade to a newer model Alpine, say a 9857, to use with my ipod? Is the interface with the newer models that much faster and easier to use with ipods? Besides saving $$, is there any reason to stick with the 9807?

i have that unit on the side.

it doesnt have an internal xover which is why i had to look in another direction

that cable is the ainet cable, and is available on ebay for >30 bucks.
