an amps role in a sq setup

How much of an affect does an amp has in a sq setup? is there a noticeable diffrence in a $200 amp and a $500 amp soundwise? If I paired a high end speaker with a not-so-highend amp, (not cheap, but not high end) would it sound bad?

"SQL" fegs will tell you yes. I say no.

But, there are things I would buy and things I would not.

it makes a huge difference, even between a certain brand (e.g. rf punch amps and power amps). I still have not personally used an amp that has sounded better than my rf t400-2 (xtant 4004 in close second). It was a pricey little amp, but put out a ton of clean power and sounded way better than any other component amp I've used with all other factors in the system the same. The audio side of an amp's board DOES matter
