Amps with no Fuses safe?

So when you fuse your power lead and have fuses on amp it's just double protection, which is kind of redundant isn't it?

So one way or the other is good?

Putting a fuse near the battery keeps your car from catching fire in the event of a short. If your amp doesn't provide built in fusing you can just use the size fuse you need for that amp at the battery. If you have multiple amps like this you add a distribution block with individual fusing. This way your main fuse is the total current capacity of all amps and the distro block has the required fuse for each amp it's protecting

So would just fusing the power wire be good enough?
you should always fuse the power wire near the battery cuz thre could be a short somewhere with the power wire and having no fuse, ur car would most likely catch onfire if that ever happened, with a fuse it will just blow and amp will shutdown andyou're safe, get it now? good...

I said I wasn't trying to take anything away from you? Did you see that? That means I don't really know. I was just going off of your post count.

I didn't say anyone was wrong. **** wtf. I just wanted more opinions. You know like what most people enjoy getting before making a purchase of something. I didn't mean to say anything bad or start anything. I'm just one that enjoys more than just 1 or 2 peoples opinions. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

Well there you go, now that autmatically classifies you as an r-tard.

there are a handful of higher end amps that don't have onboard fuses.

I figure they're either sufficiently protected w/o that feature, or they assume anyone buying them will be smart enough not to run them in a way that puts them in an over-current state -- that on top of fusing your wire properly and I don't see a problem.

Besides - the only time I ever blew fuses on an amp - the amp was already toast.
