Amps really hot

well i installed my new head unit and amp but one channel of the amp is broke so i need to get a refund but anyways i was playing music about half volume for about 30 minutes and then i touch both my amps and they are to hot to touch. This never happened with my old hu. both are about 1/3 gains. Could a miswireing somewhere cause this. My sub amp is @ 1 and speaker is @ 2 on one channel and 4 on the other(the company said this was fine). Any ideas why this is happening.

As long as they don't go into protect a lot, they should be fine. My MTX 1501d got really hot but never gave me any issues.

i couldnt touch it for more than 2 or 3 seconds but no protect

whatever, as long as they dont shut off, wail on it. i have had amps that stay fairly cool, but i have never had an amp that didnt get hot when i really layed on it hard.

also insufficient ground will cause an amp to run hot.

grounds are good but i guess i can redo them just to see

Measure from the ground terminal on the amp, to somewhere else on the frame that is bare.
