Amps in Protected Mode

Hey Everyone,

I have a Boss 1000 watt and a Boss 4000 watt amp and there both in protected mode //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif . I was trying to use them to push three 12's at 1 ohm and they went into protected mode. I know i know, Boss sucks, bla bla bla but they really **** when they don't work at all.

Does anyone know how to get them out of protected mode?

Boss wants to charge me $175 to do them both so i would apprecitate any ideas on how to fix them....

What specific amps do you have? What subs do you have? How did you have everything wired? Where are your gains and bass boosts set at?

I have the Boss RIP595 1000W and the Boss HC4000.

I have 3 Kicker CompVR's 12's wired up as 4 ohm a piece,wired in parallel, which would total up to 1.33 ohms.

On both amps i have my bass boost up about a quarter of the way. For the gains i just turn them up as much as i could without them clipping.

Ok...you have 3 subs all wired together, and 2 amps. How do you have two amps running a single load?

the amps should come out of protect as soon as whatever made them go into protect is fixed. turn your car on with volume at a very low level to see if they work---if they go into protect then theres a serious wiring issue. if they only go into protect at very high volumes or after long loud periods of play, then clipping or thermal issues are most likely to blame.

No...I made one go into protected mode first. Then i was stupid enough to do it to the other amp.

But now i have it all exactly the same i'm just using a JBL 1200.1 and its doing fine. I just want these other amps for a different install.

Problem is - those amps can't really handle a 1 ohm load.

Need to increase the impedance. Try hooking it up to say a 4 ohm load to see if you can get it to work.
