Amps for MT's.

Hey guys. I have to let the cat out of the bag earlier than I had hoped...but I really need some help on amps.

What I need is 2 amps(for now), that are stable at .6 ohm, daily. The more wattage the better, but Im not going to spend over ~650 an amp. They will be powering two 18" MT's.

I've been looking at orion 2500d's, Earthquake D3's(modded), and the MA Audio 4000D(not sure if they are stable at even 1ohm).

Let me know what else you guys can suggest!

dual 1.2's?

The MA can be modded, but not sure how much they'll like .6 daily. If they are 1.2's, you can run em 2.4 daily and drop em to .6 for burps.

You can find the MA's modded most of the time, if not, I can mod em for ya...

Snova..what do the MA's run pricewise? What kind of power do they put out at 2ohms modded?

Keep em coming guys..I appreciate it.

Used you can usually find them around $500 a pop, give or take 50 bucks. The Visonik's in my sig are the same amp, except for the voltage display.

They should do 2k+ at 2 ohms, really take off at .7 and 16v //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hmm..Ill have to look into that. If I end up with them, Ill definitely be sending you a pm about modding them.

Btw guys..I meant .6 or 2.4. Doesnt HAVE to be .6..just had a brain fart when typing the original post.

After impedance rise..wouldnt the .6 be close enough to 1 ohm anyways? Say running an orion 2500D at '.6', would be more like .8-1ohm?

Snova...just did a little research on the MA amp. It says it does 3600@2ohms@14.4v. Are these amps way overrated? Or did you have a brain fart too?

From what I've heard they are slightly overrated, but yeah I was thinking 4 ohm there too. At 2 you should see around 3k.

If you ran it at .6, you're probably looking at over 1 ohm after in box rise.

Modded, are they 1 ohm stable?

I heard they'll do 1 ohm modded given enough current.

Redford- in most cases, modding an amp involves cutting a cap on the board. Some amps have caps replaced with different ones. Modding usually consists of voltage modding (which allows for higher voltages- many people do this to run 16v systems), and/or impedance modding (when you want to run a 2 ohm stable amp at .6 ohms, like in this case). Usually you will cut the impedance and voltage protection on the amps.
