amps cutting out

alright after a week of problems i finally found what seems to be the source of my amps cutting out. i have 0 gauge being distributed to 2 4ga powers to amps and each has a seperate ground. i was fiddling with the ground of the 4channel amp and it seems to cut both amps in and out when in certain positions.

i had to kind of shave the 4ga down a lot to be able to use on the 4 chann cuz it was way too big. does that have anything to do with this?? idk wat im doing wrong its prolly so simple. thanks for the help guys

If both amps have separate grounds (isolated from each other) it seems very odd that fiddling with one ground would make the other amp shut down unless the ground wires are attached to each other (zip ties). I strongly recommend that you secure the wire terminal to the body of the vehicle with a nut and a bolt. Scrape the paint off of the point of attachment.

As far as the size of your wires... there is absolutely no reason to exceed the capacity of the lugs on the amp. Having to shave the wire down to make it fit into the lugs actually lowered the ampacity of the wire. Bottom line.... its a waste of money to use large wires only to shave them down and in turn reducing the ampacity of the conductor.

yea thats y im confused if i fiddle with that one ground they both shut off.....they are both nut and bolted and have a very very clean ground. second im getting some 8 ga so i can clean it up a bit. i only used the 4ga i had left over from my origional wire kit to be able to throw the amp in the car. im just dumbfounded at the grounding

ok one thing did come to mind, make sure that the remote wire is not touching the ground in anyway I had a similar problem and it affected all my amps since I had all remote wire connected to the same source. if you used the remote wire from one and ran it to the other that might be the reason why the other one is shutting off good luck
