Amplifiers amplify

I'm probably going to regret this, but I do have an opinion on this. I absolutely do not agree that all amplifiers sound the same when not pushed to the limits. Of course there can be ABX blind listening tests done that may or may not agree with my opinion, but in the real world none of us are going to do this when deciding to change out a perfectly operating amplifier. If you replace an amplifier and the new amplifier is the only change, and you hear differences, then you have your answer. The last time I did this I immediately thought one amplifier had slightly better focus of imaging. I quickly forgot about it as nobody has the aural memory to accurately remember something like that.

The 9000 series Stinger RCAs may in fact have something going on that will change the sound versus other RCA interconnects: capacitance. This can cause a roll-off of high frequencies.

That is all they should do. If they are changing the signal they are processors.

Papermaker is a moron.

A crap amp is a crap amp.

Any amp ran within its limits will sound like any other amp ran within its limits. Where those limits are differ.

Done
how many amps have to built and designed? Id love to see your technical knowledge on this subject.I can provide farily in-depth reasoning why i know your outright wrong.

Ideally an amplifier produces a signal identical to it's input just on a larger scale. The problem is they don't. Just like speakers, amps have a frequency response. The better quality amps will be closer to a flat reproduction.

*sigh*

I like tube amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my 2 cents:

If someone is happy with their amp why put it down because it may have a low slew rate or it's an expensive class A that people think they overpaid when they purchased and a cheap ppi wouldve done the job. wtf does it really matter as long as the person is happy with the way their setup sounds.

TBH when people argue about what sounds better that's a purely subjective argument because for one it's unlikely your ears are the exact same as someone elses....

you know whats coming right? high output impedance *** BS.. Im gonna be nice..

You can link away and regurgitate anything you want, you will never tell someone who has heard the differences in amplifiers that they have not heard a difference. There are differences to be heard and that is a fact. It is a far greater truth to suggest that not everyone will be able to discern a difference between amplifiers, between speakers, between cables. These things all have character.

Results are results. Plain and simple. They are all over the place in every test. And the results are always different when they see it.

Yes there are measurable differences. Some like DAMPENING factor are barely measurable. But can we hear them? Does the speaker hide THD?

Measurable vs audible.

the thing is he fails to realize the test recorrect a ton of issues with the core designs of the amps and there is so much processing involved the distortion introduce all sounds very similar.. its that simple really..
