Audiopipe APCL vs Audiopipe APMI and questions

I'm doing a budget build on my hunting/fishing rig, and I'm looking at grabbing an audiopipe amp. I've seen the youtube Dyno on the APCL1500 pulling close to rated, but I haven't seen anything on the APMI versions. They are within $20 of eachother and it would be nice to save a little room. I was just curious if anyone has run one and what they think.

Also, The 2000 is not much more. I am well aware of the upgrades I'll need to run, but does it hurt anything to get the 2000 instead of a 1500 and just not turn it up as much until I get my Alt/Batts in order? Does that hurt anything?

Thanks!

what do you suggest? I'm doing a build on my daughters Tacoma and plan on going all sundown. An X-10, and a scv2000 to run it....plus I have to do everything.....deck, doors, etc... so I'm trying to save a little cash.

Plus, I'm going to do the big 3 regardless of the amp, and I have to wire the amp anyway, so I'm not sure where the savings will be getting a "better" amp?

The APCL puts out rated but at like 10% thd. They're dirty at like 60% of rated.
I'm no big audiopipe fan, but it's 1300-1400 at 1%. Thd does not increase at lower power. Not sure how that would qualify as "dirty".

I put an old ap10001d in for a relative on a Diamond 15 d6 and it was impressive.

I've put an O scope on a 30001d with more than sufficient electrical. Hard clip at something like 2k rms. Could have just been that amp.

Yea i think that may have been the amp. Ive seen plenty of those clamp better then that. They clipped alittle before rated but not that early.

i would just get the 1500 & dont turn it up to far. Doing that wont require a ton of power to run the amp

Wasn't that amp just a pair of 15001's strapped? 2k's a little lower than I thought, but in the ballpark. 15's were getting dyno's around 1100 IIRC.

From the testing done on the recent stuff it seems like they're trying to give them more accurate ratings.

Again -- not an AP fan, but at 10-15 cents/watt I don't see a downside for a budget sub amp.

Cost per watt also needs to add in the supporting electrical to get that watt. That's where AP fails
