amplifier resistance and heat question

I was thinking about keeping my second D5 1200.1 and hooking them both up to my 2 SE's. They would both be running a 2ohm load, which will give me about 700+ on each sub. Regardless my question is this, If I am running a 2ohm load as opposed to a 1ohm load will there be less heat?? What will the benefits be from running the 2 amps at 2ohms compared to 1 at 1ohm? How will this affect the electrical system?

:Resistance is the measure of a device's opposition to the flow of electrical current. Its unit of measure is the ohm. If a device with one ohm of resistance is connected across a one volt power supply, the flow of current through the device will be limited to one amp. If the resistance is doubled, and the power supply voltage remains at one volt, the current flow will be one half amp. As you can see, more "resistance" will reduce the current flow in the circuit (if voltage remains constant).
ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS ???

Less power in a single amp = less heat in that amp

Well technically better THD, damping factor, etc etc......however, these will be inaudible changes. And, while the amp may be stable down to 1ohm, driving a lower load will be slightly more "stressful" then a higher impedence.

How will this affect the electrical system?
IIRC class D's in general will be slightly less efficient when driven into their lowest impedence, so the amps should be slightly more efficient into 2ohm than 1ohm.

hmmm.. good thoughts. I am getting a variety of answers...

I think that I am going to have to contact Diamond Audio and see what they say
