Amplifier keeps shutting off?

alpine mrv-f345......shuts off if volume is turned up too much, not only that but it gets extremely hot after a shot period of time, gains are set at .4 on all four channels (maximum is .2) and speakers are wired at 4ohms. what in dah hel iz causing this?any ideas,cuz i'm really sick ah dis shit. DId you set your gains correctly? Are sure your ground is not a peice of a shit? WHats your HU?

yep i sanded off the paint and evrything, pioneer 600ub HU...as for gains its ranges from 1.4(lowest)-.2(highest)...i have it at .4, and if i go any higher than that it's cheaper i use the HU amp to power my speakers.
