Amplifier Grounding

I just installed a second battery in my trunk, is it better for me to continue grounding to the chassis, or should i now ground to the negative terminal. I also read somewhere that if i do ground directly to the negative side of the battery i should install an inline fuse. Is there any truth to that?

How much power are you running?? No you don't fuse a ground.

Keep the chassis ground. Use the same size cable and connect that ground connection to the same place the battery is grounded under the hood.

This is practiced sometimes in 2-way radio installations, but for this application the ground path should not be fused.

I'm running 1800 watts. 1000 to a mono block, and (2) 400 watt amps for the mids and highs.
