Amperage

Maybe the problem is that you bought Hifonics?

Jeezus - knockin' a $700+ amp just because ONE benchtest had ONE $300 HF amp from 3 years ago not making rated power...

6000 posts?? You should be smarter than that.

The amp itself is fine, i think it's my setup. It's loud as hell, when I listen to "*****" my lil jon, my back itches badly because my seats vibrate like hell, and when I get out of my car my ears make odd noises (sounds like an alien spacecraft?). Anyways, the L7s continue to get tremendously louder around 34-36 and then it goes into protect. I was wondering if it could be DC offset possibly. What benchtest are you referring to n2audio?

sounds like you amp. when your at full tilt right b4 it goes into protect what voltage do you get?

I'm not even sure I'm pushing this thing full tilt, I think it's just demanding more amperage. There is a reason whey they started making their 3200 and 4k watt amps with dual 0 gauge inputs after the xx-colossus. Agh, I wish I could fix this.

I still think its your amp dude...Either you didnt set your gains right, you wired the subs wrong (double and tripple check), Or unfortunately, its Hifonics.

170 amps at idle, Big three, and those batteries should be more than enough for the colossus. What does it pull as far as amps at full tilt? ( COunt the number of fuses and the rating of each) If its under 150 or so (Extra 20 amps for accessories, etc), You should have enough power....

The amp pulls around 300 amps full tilt, but it's hard to say since I'm not competing with it. I have 4 fuses.

250 amp fuse off alternator before batt

200 amp fuse after yellow top

200 amp fuse before hc2400

300 amp fuse before colossus

I used a dmm and it registered 002 and flickered between 001 and 002 at times for the impedence.

Someone had a benchtest done on a bx1500D a couple years back. It only did like 1100w at 1% thd. All the anti-HF ****'s took it straight to the bank so now anytime anyone mentions HF the little clan goes off.

FWIW - I'm not an HF fan.

It's confusing, I can't understand it exactly. But when I called maxxsonics, they said some of the same stuff, that my remote turn on lead could be making my amp think it's clipping really bad when in actuality, it isn't. What can I do with my remote turn on lead to fix this issue.

Thats the wiring for the remote wiring. If the voltage on that wire goes to low cause you might have it coming from the fuse box (small wire)or hu(small wire) and the voltage drops the amp thinks its clippin and shuts off.So you wire the remote wire up per the diagram and it might fix your problem??

Never know its worth a try.

I ran a 12 AWG wire from my HC2400 positive to the remote turn on at the amp and the issue still occurs. I wonder why on test tones I can play it up to level 37-38 and have no issues. They continue to get much louder going from 32-37 as well. Could it be my subwoofer wiring? I have my subwoofers where each coil has 2 wires going into it, is that ok? My connections were all secure and I did the wiring correctly I'm sure.
