Alpine Head Unit Blinking when Car lights are turned on

After I installed my Alpine CDA 9833 and in my wifes 4Runner everything worked without issues until we left for dinner last night. When she turned on her lights the head unit began to blink every 2 seconds or so. It doesnt happen when the lights are turned off. The sound is still loud and clear and I dont notice a degradation of sound. I dont think this is a power issue based on the voltage readings. Do you think the illumination wiring is incorrect?

I had this installed in my truck 2 weeks ago and didnt have any issues.

Thanks,

Without the illumination being used is the head unit alway on with the brightest illumination or the dimmest illumination?

I dont use the illumination wire, I had this problem once and just disconnected it...

Switch them see what happens, I havent Alpine HU in years so I dont know what they look like anymore from the harness. Mine is the Orange one on my Pioneer...
I'll give it a try. I hooked it up based on the way I did it in my Chevy truck but the Toyota could be different.

dont know how old your 4runner is but i think the problem is with the factory wiring. my alpine works fine lights on or off...but when i use the dimmer switch to turn the brightness down on my instrument cluster guess what, the **** thing blinks unless i turn the dimmer up just a TINY bit. so my guess is that its the factory wiring and not the alpine, BUT like it was said before just disconnect the illumination wire and youll be golden. i can vouch for the fact that in the dark, the blinking display can be quick to drive you nuts lol

lol, yes it can. It is very annoying. I'm just glad I dont have a power issue.... well at least not yet. My subs havent been hooked up yet. Might drop by and pickup a new battery today just in case. The vehicle is a 2002 and hasnt had a battery replaced it. Its probably due for a new one anyways. In my experience a power hungry system will kill an old battery quickly anyways.

Toggled the interior illumination knob and the issue dissapeared. It was originally set at 3/4 full turn. Anything below or above 3/4 turn removed the issue.

Thanks Guys!
