Amp x-over & passive X-over, why?

Why would I use my amps x-over, when I am using my CDt us-200 Passive x-over? Is it just to make sure incase the passive x-over fails? Why wouldnt I just run the amp full range?

JL 300/2 to front stage CDT M6 mids, US-200 X-over, DRT 26/25 upstage?

JL A2150 rear CDT HD-62 component set.
