Amp wont power up after FUSE blow?? Visonik4000D

In regards to the confusion about the drawing more current with lower voltage... I dont know if it actually draw's and more or less current however we are not dealing with simple electronics and simple ohm's law equations. These are fet's with semi conductor material that acts differently then standard conductors. Also as was already mentioned fets are less efficient at lower voltage which directly means they will make more heat and blow (and potential for more then one to be open at the same time).

To the OP... depends on how good you are at soldering. I personally woulnd't do it but I **** at soldering...

It takes forever to pull that board and replace the fet's. Ive done it numerous times.

The thing is, when you have that extensive of damage, more than likely the diodes on the controller board are crispy to (since they control the FET's in the first place).

The IRF9540's on the board are kinda pricey, around $4 a piece so they start to add up after awhile.

So is this amp THAT unreliable snoop?

I mean how much would a shop charge ballpark to fix this, Im curious if I should even bother. Or if its just gonna keep happening.....

Id like a semi relaible daily amp...

I'd say it would be 250-300 to get it fixed maybe more.
Yeah thats about an average price for repair of these amps. Its just when they do blow up, alot of parts fail at once and you have to replace a significant portion of them. So labor + lots of little parts = 200-300 bucks. So at that price, another hundred or so more and you've purchased another HK board alltogether.

If your looking for something reliable and high power - look at zenon based amplifiers such as Incriminator Audio, RD Audio, Atomic, and Sundown.

Do you guys think its worthwhile to get this amp repaired (still havent gotten a quote I just went back to my old setup of amps strapped.

But I wanna know if I should repair this amp and try and run it again with hopefully better lukck, or do I really need a 200+ amp alt, even to run this thing to just 2500ish rms, like I literally had the gain on 1/4 when it blew all these fets, I was hoping to get alot mroe out of 2 batteries and a decent electrical.......
