Amp wiring

Is it possible to wire 4 svc 2ohm re8's into a jbl600.1 that is only stable down to 1ohm? If so will it ruin the amp? What other amps would be appropriate in this situation?

Wire the - of the first sub to the + of the second. Wire the - of the third to the + of the fourth. Wire the + of the first to the + of one of the amp output terminals. Wire the - of the second to one of the amp - outputs. Wire the + of the third to the other output + and the - of the fourth to the other - terminal. The final load will be 2 ohms. That amp makes the same power at 2 ohms as at 1 and it will run cooler to boot.

on the jbl website it says that setup is an undesirable connection...why is that?
