Amp wiring question

I hate to be asking such a newbie question, but I really did not know the answer.

Someone asked me at work.

If you have a 4 channel amp, can you use channels 1 & 2 at 4 ohms, and then bridge channels 3 & 4 at 2 ohms.

I would think that you could, but I am uncertain because of the difference of ohms. I hate to sound dumb, but I would much rather tell someone I don't know and check than give out bad advice.
