Amp wiring kits

Does the amp wiring kits go by the maxium watt rating or the rms? Im hooking up 2 mono amps thats a total of 2400 watts but the total rms is 1200 watt. So should I go with the 4 gauge or some 0 gauge wire
If the 2400 watts is a peak output rating then it is a rather immaterial number and should be discarded out of hand not to be used in the consideration of system layout.

4awg cable should be sufficient to feed 1.2kW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But, if there's ever a plan for future system expansion and you have the opportunity to go with 1/0awg cable now it will eliminate a need to upgrade it later if your current consumption increases somewhere down the line.
