amp wiring kit

ok so i got my amp kit installed when i got my alpine hu but, they charged me for 4 gauge wire and they installed 8 gauge instead. i know i can get it fixed but does it really matter what size the wires are. i have my a8000t hooked up and i have had no problems doesnt seem like im getting much power though.

An 800w amp should w/o a doubt be wired with 4 ga. At moderate volumes there probably won't be any problems, but when you decide to blast it that amp will draw more current than that wire can handle. Hopefully the shop fused it correctly and the fuse will blow before any damage is done, but if I were you I'd get it wire correctly as soon as reasonably possible.

wow that really sucks bro. you better go there asap and complain. because it is no fair to be paying for a 4 awg kit deal and got 8 awg up in yo car. there is a big big difference if you dont get that 4awg kit.

I mean... I work for Best Buy and I know some our locations **** *** but I didn't think we would have any installers that stupid.

thank you and yes best buy installers **** lol no offense but they do a really good job of keeping things clean and nice looking.Plus i really dont have the time to even think about doing an install myself.

What prerequisites do you need in order to work as an installer at bestbuy? What about the salesman that work in the car audio department? I'm considering working at BestBuy or CircuitCity this summer.

It's just like any other job. There are some that are good at it, some that aren't.

To make a blanket statement that all BB or CC or whoever's installers **** is just wrong. There are people on the forums that work for those companies that do excellent work.

They're like mechanics, you just have to find a good one, or learn on your own.

Like i said the guy did a great job of making it look profesional, and it works great other than the fact that he made a mistake, everyone makes mistakes but this dick wont fix it so yes i am done with best buy in general. I now hate best buy and all there workers (except for all of you on here), they ripped me off. I have to go to a different best buy location now because the installer is telling me that no amp needs a certain gauge of power wire. He said '' I've actually ran a 1200 watt pheonix off of a bunch of reguler speaker wire bound together" EFFing retarded sumbeotch!!!!!

got the 4awg in now. I had to install it myself but i got the power and ground for free. sounds a lot better too. i really didnt think the wire would make that big of a difference in the sound.
