Amp wiring & Big 3 questions?

1. What size wire for a 4x100W amp, internal fuse on amp is 40?

2. Will have a fuse close to the battery. Is a second inline fuse necessary near the amp?

3. If doing the "Big 3" do I fuse the battery + to alternator wire?

4. If so what size fuse should I use?

Any other help is appreciated.

2. Not necessary, but a good idea nonetheless

3. Yes. The size of the fuse should be slightly less than the amperage the wire is rated for.

8awg should be fine

8 ga will be fine but if the amp will accept 4ga, then go for it.

If the amp has a fuse on the chassis, then a fuse in line at the amp is not required.

#3, not a bad idea

Real 8 ga wire should be good for 60a

Real 4 ga should be good for 100+
