My JL 1000/1 amp whines pretty loud , well untill I turn the music up, but when I'm cruising with the music low or I'm driving with other people and the music is not loud, I can hear it whine alot.. it kind of follows the music..

should I rewire the RCAs to the other side of my truck or what? Right now theyre alongside the power wire all on the left...

Check your grounds and route your wires on the opposite side, and if that still doesn't fix it then get a ground loop isolator.

for one, certainly shouldnt have them next to the power wire. i would suggest rerouting.

I had a pretty bad whine until I decided I didnt like the ground I had. Shop that installed the original system (before I owned the car) had one of those stinger grounding terminals screwed to the trunk floor. I noticed a little rust and corrosion around it. Changed it and whine is completely gone....

try that. also check that your gains arent set too high. that will cause whine as well.

Is the wine comming from the Amplifier its self or coming out of the speakers?

If it is comming out of inside the amplifier its a bad powersupply.

If it is comming out of the speakers then its a ground issue someplace as stated above.

Usually it is a bad LC output filter. If it stops functioning properly (Via dead capacitors or shorted inductor(s)), it will let out a whine, usually a harmonic of the high frequency being switched.

If it is the power supply, the only thing I can figure is the filter capacitors, or the drive signal is messing up.

Ground loops are common, and so are LC filters.

lmao that just made my day.. but anyways ..

I just finished the BIG 3 like 2 minutes ago..

I'll try re-grounding my amp in a diff. location tommorow and I'll report back on it tommorow.. I gotta go 2 work..

Whine comes from the AMP, not the speakers. But if my amp is ****ed then why does it still function perfectly fine? My gains are ALL the way down untill I buy some more CD-Rs to burn a 50hz tone and set my gains right..

umm.. lets see.. alt is stock on my Trailblazer, I think its a 140 amp alt? Could be wrong but that's what I've read so far on these..

So I'll re ground and re wire my RCAs and check back tommorow..

Thanks for all the help guys.

So you completed the "Big 3" and it's still whining? And the whining is coming from the amp itself. Interesting. Well, I for one can admit I haven't got a clue! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

yeah.. and this is going to throw you off even more possibly..

I Rewired the RCAs to the other side of truck.. still whined..

I regrounded the ground... STILL WHINES!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I would normally be pissed but it's all fun I love this shit so its cool.. I just want to know wtf is wrong.. haha

I hope it's not the amp like some others said...

Well, I certainly don't, but there are some pretty serious amp nerds out here that may be able to help. I'd suggest posting the issue under the amp forum. You will be guaranteed to attract the right folk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif
