amp whine?

i just got a sundown off of someone on here. it works, but when i hook up the rcas i get this super loud, annoying and painful high pitch whine. it goes away as soon as i unplug the rcas. so idk if its the amp or something out..

any ideas? please help. this high pitch literally hurts my ears quite a bit.

its not engine whine. i do have engine wine but this isnt the problem. the sound is more of a loud loud low pitch. its on with with the car on or off. so its definitely not engine whine. i only get it from the mono amp, not from the full range

idk if its the sundown amp thats messed up or something with the overall connections..

i never had the high pitch sound with the clarion i had. it went from literealy one minute no high pitch sound, to sundown amp installed and now a really high pitch sound.

the install was 3 hours ago and my ears still hurt from the sound. its not super super loud but its really high frequency

i agree with chris ,sounds like broken rca sheild on the amp.but just to be sure ,try a different rca first run it from the deck to ampin a staight line ,dont hide it, and if it still does it ,i can get it fixed in salinas. call me roberto ,im now living in seaside

**** i just got this thing. i dont wana blame the guy i got it from and i'll assume it was a coincidence or it happened during shipping.. but not very good luck for me.

is the rca expensive to fix? thanks for the help.. if its broken il definitely want to get it fixed.

im going to go run some rcas right now real quick.

and cool that yourliving in seaside now. i talked to greg aobut a couple of weeks ago, i was supposed to go to his shop so he can set me up and try to fix my other problems, but i havnt had time. if the rcas are broken then il definitely go asap now.

alright.. just ran some rcas outside the car to see what happens and yea.. even with different rcas the high pitch sound, sounds as soon as the rcas make contact with the amp rca inputs. i tried pluggin them in, into the rca output of the amp and i also get the high pitch sound. so does that mean both rca shields are broken on the amp or does that kind of hint that its not the amp rca shields? or what a coincidence that both amp rca shileds are messed up?

i did this test while the amp wasnt receiving any power. i disconnected the remote wire wire, so the amp was NOT turning on while i did this, and i still got the high pitch frequency.

and my ears are hurting again.

its a sundown sae1200d version 1

i dont know what else it could be. 12 v. , ground and remote were good before, and i didnt change a thing. rca's were also good

just got the amp brand new and i got the same problem! any ideas?
